Community Engagement Strategies

Page currently under construction 🚧

Getting a community to engage can be a challenge at times. With big servers people will be engaging regardless, but with smaller ones, it can be quite silent without the right strategy.

I’ve used various strategies in the past to encourage community engagement. What I’ve found works well are activities, and creative channels.

Activities:

  • Question of the day: This can get people engaging in a conversation, and they might some similarities with other members. For example. What’s your favourite character in this game and why? In a small server, this is crucial for keeping people active each day.

  • Would you rather?: This is similar to question of the day, but people must choose one or the other.

  • Polls:

  • Quiz Nights:

  • Movie Nights:

  • Game Nights:

Creative Channels: Some people want a place to share their creations with like minded people. Their creations could range from virtual photography, to art, videos/edits, memes, and even crafts like crochet.

The most important strategy for community engagement is to be there. Members can only do so much on their own, but what if they run across an issue? A big server will have mods, but a small server might not. It’s always good to show up in the community.

Feedback is also a great way to get people involved.
